Unit 1: Roaring 20sIt is a decade excess. Soldiers return from war changed--facing death everyday made them want to live for the moment. Women left the factories and refused to be the little angels their parents wanted them to be. Music and dance found new, freer, and boundless ways of expression. Booze was illegal, but easily available. Money was easily made. It was a fantasy time, a dream time where anything was possible--a dream that was quickly flying into nightmare reality far worse than anyone could have ever imagined.

Unit 2: Great DepressionWhen the US economy crashes in 1929, no one is prepared for how terrible--and how long--the GREAT DEPRESSION would last. No work, no money, no food, even clothing seems out of reach for many families. Then an unmatched disaster, the DUST BOWL, swallows entire states in choking dust. The United States is crippled. It would take a president who faced and conquered his own crippling disease to lead America out of this terrible time. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's NEW DEAL put America back to work. It gave them hope and a way to hold on...until an even greater threat to the world rises to power.
