Unit 1: Moving WestAfter the Civil War, American once again turned its gaze westward. Encouraged by free land grants from the government, booming gold and silver mines, and the promise of new beginnings, millions of Americans moved West. However, the millions of Native Americans who already lived were being invaded. America's second civil war--The Indian Wars--would mark the end of the Native American way of life.
Unit 2: CitiesAs the United States races towards modernity with new technologies and industries, it begins to realize that guaranteeing freedom for all does not guarantee equality. Women, factory workers, and others face an unfair society every day.

Unit 3: American ImperialismIn the early 20th century (1900s) the United States wishes to show its European neighbors that it is no longer a young, weak nation. President Teddy Roosevelt sends our Navy on world wide tour, flexing are new muscles. He then dedicates his terms in office expanding US authority over other countries in the Americas,colonizing Puerto Rico and building the Panama Canal.
Unit 4: World War iIn a small European country, the death of one man starts a chain reaction bringing every major world nation to war. It is the Great War, the First World War, the War to End All Wars. It is a war so devastating that an entire generation of humanity thinks we could never allow ourselves to have another. From it, the USA would emerge an undeniable champion and beacon of democracy for the world. Yet this war would also lay the foundation of one of history's greatest monsters.
